The Higher Learning Commission granted initial accreditation to Cooley's Lansing campus. Cooley was one of the first independent law schools to voluntarily seek accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission.

Cooley opened its $2.8 million courtroom complex in July 2004. The courtrooms are devoted to teaching trial and appelate skills.

The large appelate courtoom holds 120 people while the smaller trial courtroom can accomodate about 60 people.
