Graduate Services

1. Individual Consultation

Alumni are encouraged to schedule appointments for personal consultation to discuss:

  • Goal setting;
  • Job search tips;
  • General job-hunting;
  • Specific job-hunting strategies;
  • Preparation or revision of resumes and cover letters; and
  • Interview preparation.

2. Alumni Access

Group Meetings
- Join a career advisor for monthly Alumni Access meetings to discuss a wide range of career related subjects with other recent alumni.

3. Alumni Newsletter

A monthly newsletter for inclusion with the Cooley Classifieds. The goal of this newsletter is to address common issues that is gained from counseling students and alumni and through research in the marketplace. It has an advise column where specific questions are addressed for each issue.

4. Job Bulletin Exchange

The Career Services Office receives job bulletins from over 100 other law schools. Alumni can sign-up to have up to five of these bulletins sent to them. Some job bulletins are also available on-line.

5. Weekly Job Listings

The Cooley Classifieds consists of two editions, listing student and graduate employment respectively. Listings are separated by geographic location, identifying job opportunities around the country and world. The Cooley Classifieds are updated weekly and are available every Friday.

Alumni can subscribe to the graduate edition of the Classifieds. As a service for Cooley students and alumni, subscriptions are free and are sent by regular mail or e-mail. Subscribers who chose to receive the Classifieds by regular mail will get them every two weeks. Those who chose e-mail will receive the Classifieds weekly.

6. Reciprocity

The Career Services Office can arrange for alumni to use the services of another law school's career office subject to the policies of that law school. Information about reciprocity agreements with specific schools is available at the Career Services Office.

7. Law Firm Profiles

The Career Services Office has a collection of law firm profiles from a variety of geographic locations in addition to the NALP National Directory of Legal Employers and the Martindale-Hubbell Directory. Alumni are encouraged to visit a number of on-line resources including: individual firm/office websites, Lexis and Westlaw career sites, and Martindale Hubbell. These valuable informational tools can be accessed via the Internet.

8. EmplawyerNet

The Career Services Office is a member of EmplawyerNet. This important on-line search service provides access to thousands of legal jobs across the country as well as to a variety of career-related information and advice. The Career Services Office regularly subscribes to national employment listings that can be viewed and copied in the office. These publications include:
