Erin blossomed academically at Cooley, graduating first in her class, summa cum laude, with a 3.84 GPA. While at Cooley, with the help of the school’s Career and Professional Development Office, she obtained a summer associate position with Plunkett Cooney, P.C., one of Michigan’s top law firms. Erin was one of four Cooley students to receive summer associate offers from the firm that year, out of a total of six offers that the firm made. All three of the Cooley students who accepted these offers were eventually hired as associates by the firm following graduation.
Erin practices in the firm’s litigation group focusing on insurance defense cases. She deals with complex coverage issues, often in multi-million dollar environmental pollution cases occurring over long periods of time. She also handles general insurance liability work with cases ranging from premises liability to employment law.
Erin graduated in January 2008 and has passed the Michigan and Indiana bar examinations. She is now handling construction law and professional liability cases. |
Erin Murphy
September 2007 graduate
"I consider myself lucky to have been taught by some of the best minds in the profession."
Erin wanted to be a lawyer as far back as she can remember. Cooley was the only law school
she applied to because she was a new mother and needed flexibility in scheduling. She was awarded an Honors Scholarship that helped defray the cost of her legal education, and the law school’s Oakland campus was within easy commuting distance.
