At Cooley, Laura discovered a passion for advocacy, and she competed in numerous moot court and mock trial competitions, including a national competition in New York. Cooley’s flexible program allowed Laura to select classes that helped her develop practical litigation skills while also giving her the opportunity to participate in various student organizations, including Law Review.

Laura graduated first in her class, and passed the Michigan Bar on her first attempt. Laura's success helped her earn an associate position at a highly regarded Michigan law firm, Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C. Laura practices general litigation in the firm’s Grand Rapids office.
Laura went to law school because she wanted a
challenging career that would allow her to help others solve their problems. Laura and her husband, Nick, decided to attend law school together, and they chose Cooley because of its emphasis on practical legal education and its scholarship program.
