Cooley Team Wins Regional Finalist Honors in Ohio
Teams from Cooley Law School won regional finalist honors in the National Moot Court Competition in Columbus, Ohio, November 9-11.
Two teams from Cooley Law School participated Nov. 9-11 in the regional rounds of the National Moot Court Competition in Columbus, Ohio. The competition is sponsored by the New York Bar Association Young Lawyers Committee and the American College of Trial Lawyers. One three-member team won Best Petitioner’s Brief, and the other team won regional finalist honors.
Winners of the National Moot Court Competition’s Region VI Best Petitioner's Brief honors were Jennifer Dixon, Jennifer Marshall, and Sunny Matz. Region VI Regional Finalists were Mike Dean, Russ Kavalhuna, and Susannah Meyer. The team of Dean, Kavalhuna, and Meyer will go on to compete at the competition’s national finals in New York City in January 2007.
Along the way to becoming one of the two regional finalists, the Cooley team competed against teams from Ohio State University, Wayne State University, Northern Kentucky University, and Capitol University.
Cooley Associate Professor and National Moot Court Competition teams’ coach Evelyn Tombers expressed great pride in her team.
"I want to thank our six ambassadors from Cooley who always gave their best arguments and who were, yet again, always the first to wish their opposing teams good luck and first to congratulate them for a round well argued. I am so proud of these six dedicated, hard-working, bright, and generally fun to be around students," Tombers said.
